In the last month we have still had ups and downs. Brecken was sick for an entire week during part of her 2 week spring break. Getting out of her routine of therapies and school is hard, but illness makes it even harder. She has really bounced back the last 5 days though. She's babbling A LOT and saying new things. She's getting our attention and desperately "talking" to us about things she wants us to see and acknowledge. Today I found her playing with a doll, feeding it and giving it a pacifier, which she NEVER does. Just 2 days ago, when I asked her if she wanted more food, she replied, "No mo' mama!" That was the first time she's ever said 3 things together!
We know there will still be hard days ahead and the road to recovery is long, but having several good days in a row certainly boosts our confidence. I think the words my mom recently wrote to a friend sum up just perfectly how we feel:
"Our faith gives us hope, strength, comfort and the belief in the power of prayer. But that faith also realizes that God has a plan and it may not be our plan and His timing isn't necessarily our timing (which is always NOW Lord not later). There is so much to learn from our beautiful Brecken. We know the journey won't be easy and we may never see the results we'd like, but she will always be loved and we will know we did everything we could to help her. To us, God is leading us and it is ultimately in His hands. No one loves her more than He does."
Amen! I'm excited to see all that God has in store for her future. My hope is in Him.
