Friends

I remember reading in one of those parenting magazines that a new mom (or "old" mom) needs all kinds of different friends to keep her sane. The single friend gives her time and reminds you that you're still human, the married friend uplifts you with dedication and drive, and the mommy friend understands your struggles and helps you laugh through them. It didn't mean much to me at the time, but as I continue down this path of parenthood and life I am constantly reminded of just how awesome my friends really are.

This week I've been able to touch base with my three different types of friends and all of them have brought something unique to my life. Yesterday I sat down and had a long talk with my married friend. We are going through similar life changes right now. We'll both be selling our homes, moving, and adjusting to our husbands' careers. It's always nice to be understood; to feel like we're not alone and someone else in the world gets what we're dealing with. But what I love about this friend is her fire for life and pressing forward. She makes me laugh, makes me feel normal, and inspires me to push on. She's just who I needed at the right moment. So, thanks for that, special friend. :)
