I'm not a superstitious person (well, not in the traditional meaning of the word). I don't believe that what I say or don't say, do or don't do has any real power. Still, it seems as though once I bring up how great something is it immediately changes. I shouldn't have mentioned that my sleeping was getting better. It's like as soon as I did it started being a problem again. I'm just so tired of it and so tired of being tired. I miss my precious sleep.
On a more positive note, Wednesday was Hudson's 18 month checkup. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he didn't have to have shots! The pediatrician said that other than a flu shot every year and the next hepatitis A shot in a few months, he won't have to have more immunizations till he is 4. That is fantastic news! I just hate shots. I'm sure Hudson is even happier than I am! He wasn't very happy during the visit though. He screamed and cried when we weighed him, measured him, and took his vitals. It was pretty much the worst thing in the world. But he is a very healthy boy! He weighed 25 lbs, 2 oz and was 33 inches long. This is the first time in a long time that his height has been above the 50th percentile line. I am proud!
We also had the doctor check Rowan's weight while we were there. At her 4 month visit she had only gained a pound in 2 months. Not good. So I agreed to bring her back for a weight check in 4 weeks after starting her on solids and trying harder to get her to take a bottle. She still won't take more than an ounce or so from the bottle, but she has been eating solids like a champ. She has gained over a pound in the last 4 weeks! What an improvement! We'll keep trying with the bottle/sippy cup and keep expanding the menu of solids. Later today we're going to introduce barley cereal. Something tells me she won't like it!
I'm excited for the weekend. Saturday (and very often Sunday too) we have a tradition of getting McDonald's for breakfast. This started when I was in Colorado with Hudson during Nick's deployment. My dad would go get us food in the morning while my mom was at BSF. Egg mcmuffins, pancakes, breakfast burritos, and vanilla iced coffees make for a delicious spread. Nick and I look forward to it all week!
Wishing everyone a nice, relaxing weekend!
i'll have to remember to grab some drive thru mc d' when we go for our mommy day out. you know what, give your sleep to God. i know you've been praying about it, but don't give up. i know it's hard to not want to give up, but hang in there. all in good time. and yea for the kiddos progressing well. apparently in your lack of sleep you're doing something right! hang in there and enjoy your weekend fast food spread!
ReplyDeleteYay for great results! I hope that Rowan continues to love to eat! :)
